Hoy / Today

Hoy hace una semana que internamos a Alondra. Y fue un buen día para Alondra y para su mamá. Alondra tuvo tubos durante la mañana, pero a la tarde se los sacaron y no se los volvieron a poner. Hoy a la noche tomo su primer mamadera (hasta ahora tenía suero o le daban leche por la sonda) y la dejé durmiendo muy contenta. Todavía no la pude tener a upa, pero la doctora (la dr. Tan, que ya se curo!)me prometió sacarle la última cánula mañana para que la pueda agarrar. Lo mejor de todo es que ya empezaron a hablar del darle el alta. ¡Falta poco!

Oren para que siga respirando bien, y comiendo bien. Los análisis muestran que tiene una bacteria que es resistente a los antibióticos que le estaban dando, pero por ahora no le van a dar otros. Lo bueno es que no tiene nada de fiebre. Oren para que siga así y pueda combatir la bacteria solita.

Algunos deben haber orado por mi después de leer mi mensaje anoche. La cuestión es que hoy no me costo tanto irme, menos sabiendo que mañana la voy a poder tener a UPA!! A los que oraron por esto, muchas gracias.

  It's been a week today since Alondra was first hospitalized. Today was another good day. She had some tubes for air pressure on and off during the morning, but in the afternoon they took them off and didn't put them back on. Tonight she had her first bottle feed since the operation (since then it had been only IV and tube feedings) and she was really good at gulping it all. When I left she was sleeping soundly. The doctor (this is Dr. Tan, she is back!!) promised she will take the last port out tomorrow so I will get to cuddle her. Best of all was that doctors are starting to talk about sending her home. Not long now!

Please continue praying Alondra will breathe well on her own, and will continue to eat well. Some lab work showed she has a bacteria that is resistant to the antibiotics she was taking. Doctors have decided not to give her more meds but let her fight it on her own. She has no fever, so that is good. Please pray her body will be able to fight the bacteria and she will continue to improve.

Some of you must have prayed for me after last night's update, because today it was a lot easier to come back home, especially knowing that tomorrow I will get to HOLD HER!! So, whoever you are, thanks for praying!

Cansadas / Tired out

 

Sanando / Healing

Una de las cosas que menos me gusta de todo esto es tener que irme del hospital y que Alondra se tenga que quedar. Yo se que va a estar bien cuidada y hasta tengo el suficiente sentido común como para darme cuenta de que tengo que dormir en algún momento. Pero igual me cuesta irme, en especial en días como hoy cuando me mira irme con esos ojos enormes que tiene. Todavía estaría llorando si no fuera por la voz de Jesús, que me dice que no me preocupe, que él se queda.

Novedades. Cuando llegamos esta mañana nos puso contentos ver a Alondra respirando sin ninguna ayuda. Pero después de un rato uno de los doctores pensó que sería mejor volver a ponerle el oxígeno. Es verdad que hacen que respire más fácil, pero los tubos son muy incómodos.

Aún así, está mucho mejor. Hoy a la tarde la pasaron de terapia intensiva a otra sala de terapia para bebés. Hoy también le sacaron muchas de las sondas que tenía. Mañana van a probar de dejarla respirar por si sola otra vez, y tal vez, un gran tal vez, me van a dejar tenerla a upa otra vez. ¡Lo que les va a costar muchísimo es hacer que la vuelva a poner en la cuna!

Sigo orando por todos los detalles que se necesitan curar en estos días. Gracias por sumarse.

If there is one thing i really really don't like about all this is having to leave the hospital and leave Alondra there. I know that she is well cared for, and even my common sense says I need to go home and get some sleep. But I still hate leaving, especially in days like today when she lays there, awake, looking at me with those big deep eyes she has. I would still be crying if it wasn't for Jesus' voice deep inside saying, "Don't worry, I'm staying here with her."

Ok. Now for the update. When we arrived this morning, Alondra had only one tube coming out of her nose. We were delighted! She was breathing on her own and all the numbers in the screen were all right. But during the day one of the doctors felt it was better for her to have the tubes in again. They do make it easier for her to breathe, but they are very uncomfortable otherwise.

Later today Alondra went form ICU to NICU(N is for neo natal). That is good news, because it means she needs a bit less intensive care. Many lines came out today as well, as she is taking less medication. Tomorrow they will try letting her breathe on her own. And maybe, maybe, maybe, I will get to hold her again. They are going to have a hard time making me put her back in the cot!

I continue to pray for all the little things in her body that need to heal. Do join me!

Encaminada / On the way

Alondra tuvo un buen día. A la mañana temprano le sacaron el respirador y reaccionó bien. Ahora solo tiene una sonda que regula la cantidad de oxígeno. Si todo sigue bien, ya mañana le sacan eso también y le ponen otra más chiquita.
También hoy le empezaron a dar leche a través de una sonda directa al estómago. La idea es incrementar la cantidad de leche de a poquito, y si todo va bien ya llegaría al fin de semana con la cantidad de leche que acostumbraba comer y por boca.
Hay tantas cosas que tienen que regularse y ajustarse, todo en un cuerpo tan chiquito.
Lo lindo de hoy fue que ya abre un poco los ojos y está despierta un ratito, le cantamos unas canciones y se vuelve a dormir. Todavía hay muchas cosas que le duelen y la incomodan, pero en general es un gusto ver que se va poniendo bien.
Nos sentimos privilegiados de tenerlos a todos ustedes orando del otro lado, ¡Gracias!

Alondra had a good day today. Early in the morning they took the respirator out, and she reacted well. They only kept the oxygen tubes in her nose to add some oxygen to the air she breathes. After a few hours, her lungs got used to the new situation and now she breathes the same air we all breathe, without the need of adding any oxygen! Hopefully tomorrow they will take these tubes out as well.
Today they also started giving her some milk through a tube that brings it straight to her stomach. They'll increment the amount of milk little by little, and if everything goes well, she'll be feeding normally by the end of the week.
Nice thing today was seeing her wake up and open her eyes. Of course she isn't happy about all the tubes that are holding her from being free, but we sing some songs to her and comfort her, and then she goes back to sleep. It's such a joy to see her improving!

Hoy Martes / Tuesday

Uno de estos días me voy a sentar a escribir y contarles cómo estamos viviendo todo este momento. Por ahora, alcanzo nada más a contarles las novedades del día. Pero sepan que sus oraciones son las que están moviendo las manos de Dios. Sus oraciones y el amor del Señor.

Alondra sigue estable. Hoy a la tarde abrió un poco los ojos y estuvo despierta un buen rato. Eso es bueno porque los médicos quieren ver cómo reacciona todo cuando está despierta. Pero no es tan bueno que se mueva mucho porque tiene cables por todos lados. Esta noche va a estar con el respirador al mínimo y mañana van a ver de sacárselo. Oren por esto, para que su corazón y sus pulmones puedan funcionar bien por si mismos. Oren también para que no tengan que volver a entubarla, y que las sondas que tiene ahora no la lastimen mucho.

Estos son días bastante críticos y es difícil ver a Alondra así. Pero el Señor no falta a sus promesas, y con la prueba también nos da todo lo que estamos necesitando para pasarla, especialmente paz.

Hoy fue un gran día porque llegó la abuela Mimí! No hubo problemas con las conexiones y el Señor la cuidó en el largo viaje. Ya se nota la diferencia con tenerla cerca. Timo especialmente, casi que no lo puede creer. Gracias Señor.

Sigan orando. Seguimos mañana.

One of these days I'll have a bit of time to tell you more about what's going on inside us during this time. For now I'm only able to update you on what happened today. But please know that your prayers are moving God's hands. Your prayers and His amazing love.

Alondra is stable. This afternoon she opened her eyes a little bit. Doctors were glad, since this lets them monitor her and see how she is reacting. It's not so good that she wants to move around, because she has so many cables and things attached everywhere. Tonight she is on the minimum setting on the respirator, and maybe they will take it out tomorrow morning. Please pray for this. Pray that her heart and lungs will work well on their own. And pray they won't need to put the respirator back in and that the one she has now won't hurt her too much on the inside.

These few days are critical, and it's hard to see Alondra like this. But the Lord always fulfills his promises and with this trial He is also giving us everything we need, especially peace.

Today was a great day because Grandma arrived! She had not trouble making her connections and the Lord looked after her in the long trip. We can already tell the difference of having her here. Especially Timo, he can hardly believe it! Thanks, Lord.

Keep praying! More tomorrow.

Las primeras 24 o 48 horas tiene que usar respirador hasta que sus pulmones se acostumbren al nuevo flujo de sangre, que es mas elevado como resultado de la operación, pero esta mañana empezaron a bajar el respirador para ver como respondía, y gracias a Dios, ya empieza a respirar por si sola de a poquito
¡Él está trabajando!
Mas: no tiene mas fiebre.

Hi everyone!

A short note just to let you know that Alondra had a good night.
The first 24 or 48 hours she'll use a respirator to help her lungs get used to the increased blood flux that is going through them as a result of the surgery, but this morning they lowered the respirator to see how she reacted, and little by little she's starting to breathe on her own.
He's at work!

Post Op

Mi princesa de labios color rosa se está recuperando de a poquito. Tuvimos un susto esta tarde cuando cayeron de repente todos los números, pero ahora está todo estable. Le hicieron una transfusión de sangre, y sigue sedada por ahora. Mañana al mediodía van a tratar de sacarle el respirador a ver qué pasa. El cirujano está tranquilo, dice que todo esto es normal. El pediatra siempre está preocupado, dice que las primeras 48 horas son críticas. Es difícil saber a quién creerle. Pero nuestra confianza está en el Señor, creador del cielo, la tierra y de nuestra pequeña Alondra. Él nos dice: "No tengan miedo, crean solamente".

El médico me mandó a casa a dormir, así que voy a obedecer. Mañana volvemos temprano al hospital, y en algún momento del día Alondra va a conocer a su abuela Mimí!

Gracias por clamar con nosotros por la vida de Alondra.

Our little princess of pink lips is recovering slowly. We had a scare this afternoon, when all the numbers in the monitor dropped, but she is now stable. She had to have a blood transfusion and is still sedated. Tomorrow noon they might take her out of the respirator, to see how she copes. The surgeon is calm, he says all this is normal. The pediatrician says that the first 48 hours are critical. It's hard to know whom to listen! But our trust is in the one who created the heavens and the earth, as well as our little Alondra. He says, "Don't be afraid, just believe."

The doctor sent me home to get some sleep, so I'll obey. We'll be back in the hospital early tomorrow and sometime tomorrow Alondra will get to meet her grandma.

Buenas Noticias / Good News

El test de H1N1 dio negativo (¡Gracias Señor!) y Alondra entró al quirófano a las 11 y media de la mañana. (El test de la doctora Tan dio positivo, así que otro doctor la suplantó.) La operación duró unas tres horas, hasta que el cirujano salió a contarnos que todo había ido bien (¿Están gritando conmigo?).

Ahora Alondra está en terapia intensiva recuperándose. Por ahora está conectada a un respirador y tiene muchísimos otros cables y cateteres. La van a mantener sedada por un tiempo, y van a ver como evoluciona. Sus pulmones no están acostumbrados a recibir tanta sangre, así que va a llevarle un tiempo adaptarse. Si todo va bien, el cirujano nos dice que le pueden dar el alta el viernes o sábado.

Por primera vez Alondra tiene los labios de color rosa. ¡Es muy hermosa nuestra hijita!

Damos gracias a Dios por su cuidado en su vida, por darnos su paz inmensa durante la operación, y por las oraciones y el amor de todos ustedes. Todavía queda camino por recorrer pero seguimos confiados y agradecidos.

Oren para que Alondra se recupere sin complicaciones. Oren para que el Señor nos de fuerzas (físicas!) en los días que vienen. Oren por Noemí que está volando para ayudarnos. Nuestra amiga Grace estuvo con nosotros hasta ahora y nos ayudó a cuidar a Timo estos últimos dos días. Damos gracias a Dios por ella.

The N1H1 test was negative (Thanks Lord!) and Alondra went into the operation theater this morning about 11:30. (Dr. Tan's test was positive, so another doctor came to help us with the surgery). The operation lasted for about three hours, time when the surgeon came out to tell us all had gone well! (Are you shouting with us?)

Alondra is now recovering in the ICU. She is breathing through a respirator and has many cables and things I don't know the names for connected to her. She is going to be sedated for a while, while they see how she evolves. Her lungs are not used to so much blood, so it will take a while for her to adapt. The surgeon says that she could be discharged by Friday if all goes well.

For the first time ever, Alondra has pink lips. She is a gorgeous little one!

We are so thankful for God's care over her life, for the peace he gave us during the surgery and for your love and prayers on our behalf. We still have a long road ahead, but we are thankful and continue to trust God.

Please pray Alondra will recover well. Pray God will give us the strength we will need for the next days. Pray for my mom, as she is flying right now to come and help us. Our friend Grace has been here with us all this while, and she helped in many ways, specially looking after Timo. We thank God for her!

Cirugía / Surgery

La cirugía está planeada para mañana a la mañana, en cuanto tengamos los resultados del análisis de gripe A de Alondra y de la Dr. Tan. Seguimos orando para que los dos den negativo, para que así puedan operar a Alondra y la doctora pueda estar ahí.

Así que les pedimos que oren para que los resultados den negativo y para que la operación se haga. Que Dios les de sabiduría al Dr. Shankar y a todo su equipo. Qué cubra a Alondra con su mano poderosa.

Los días de posoperatorio también van a ser difíciles. Gracias por orar por nosotros.

Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, morning. We are still waiting for the results of Alondra's and Dr. Tan's H1N1 tests. We pray they are both negative so we can go ahead with the surgery and Dr. Tan can be there also.

So please pray for negative H1N1 test results and for a good surgery. May the Lord lead Dr. Shankar and his team. May He cover Alondra with his hand.

The days after the operation will be hard as well. Pray for us.

Domingo / Sunday

Novedades desde el hospital. Alondra sigue estable. Todavía tiene fiebre, pero está comiendo bien. Los análisis que le hicieron anoche no indican ninguna infección, y ahora estamos esperando el resultado del H1N1. Si es negativo, la operación se hace mañana. Si es positivo, probablemente también la operen mañana, pero el riesgo es mas alto y también lo que implica para el hospital. Puede que también la fiebre se deba a la medicación que le están dando, así que vamos a ver cómo reacciona sin ella.

Hoy vinieron a verla el cirujano y el cardiólogo. El cirujano está tranquilo con operarla en cualquier momento, pero por preacuación vamos a esperar los resultados de los análisis.

Oren para que el resultado de la gripe A sea negativo, tanto para Alondra como para la anestesista, así puede asistir en la operación.

Update from the hospital. Alondra is stable. She has a fever but is eating well. Last night's test don't show any infection. We are now waiting for results from the H1N1 test. If that is negative, surgery will take place tomorrow morning. If it's positive, we probably have to do the surgery anyway, but the risks and the implications in terms of security will be higher. Doctos also think that the drugs they are giving her can be the cause of the fever,
so they will try to see how well she does without it.

Today we met the surgeon, a really nice man. He is fine with having the surgery as soon as possible, but he will wait for the results as a precaution.

Please pray that the test for H1N1 will be negative, for Alondra and also for Dr. Tan, so she can be at the surgery.

We thank God for his continuous presence with us, for his peace, for comforting us and for looking after Alondra. Thanks for keeping on praying.

Antes de contarles cómo va todo quería que vieran estas fotos de Alondra, la mañana antes de la internación.
Before updating again, I just wanted to post a few pictures we took of Alondra the morning before she was admitted.

 

 

Por favor oren por nuestra hijita Alondra. Desde ayer que está en el hospital preparándose para que la operaran mañana. Pero hoy tuvo fiebre muy alta y los doctores están investigando si puede ser una infección. Mañana vamos a saber un poco más, pero de ser una infección, puede que tarden varios días en averiguar qué es. Mañana también vamos a evaluar con los médicos qué hacer. Es peligroso operar si hay una infección, pero también es peligroso no operarla.

Oren también por la Dr. Tan, la anestesista. Tiene fiebre también y se está haciendo unos estudios. Es la anestesista que nos gustaría que estuviera en la operación de Alondra. Oren para que no tenga nada grave y se recupere pronto.

Gracias por orar por Alondra. Dios nos la prestó, ella es suya. Pero quisiéramos tenerla con nosotros por mucho tiempo más. Hoy le cantamos una y otra vez: "Aquel que la buena obra empezó, será fiel en completarla en tí." Sabemos que él lo va a hacer y le damos gracias por ello.

Dear Friends,
Please pray for our little girl. She was admitted to the hospital yesterday in preparations for surgery tomorrow. But this afternoon she developed a high fever and doctors are now testing for infections. We will have some more news tomorrow, but if it is an infection it will take days to find out what it is. Meanwhile, surgery had to be postponed. Since the surgery is pretty urgent too, we will need to decide together with the doctors what will be best to do. Having an operation with an infection is very dangerous. Not having the operation is dangerous as well.

Please also pray for Dr. Tan, the anesthetist. She also has a fever and is being tested. She is a very important part of the medical team and we would like for her to be at the surgery. Pray she will not have anything serious and will get well soon.

So, please pray for the life of our little one. God gave her to us, we know she belongs to Him. But how we want to have her home with us! Today we sang to her again and again, "He who began a good work in you, will be faithful to complete it." We believe He will, and we praise Him for it.

En el Hospital / At the Hospital

Hoy admitieron a Alondra a la unidad de cuidados intensivos del hospital. Está en una incubadora y le están inyectando una medicación que puede ayudar a que suba el nivel de oxígeno en sangre. Eso a su vez va a ayudar a los médicos durante la operación.
Dejar a Alondra ahí, y verla ahí, fue probablemente lo más difícil que me tocó hacer hasta hoy. Pude quedarme bastante con ella (de 9 a 9) y darle la mamadera. Mucho no le gusta estar ahí toda entubada. Oren para que pueda sentirse mejor y para que los niveles de oxígeno suban lo que tienen que subir.
Decidimos ir a este hospital porque ahí opera el mejor cirujano en esta parte del mundo. Este doctor está en Cambodia, pero va a operar a Alondra el día que vuelve a Singapur. La operación está prevista para este domingo a las 3 de la tarde. En realidad, todo el equipo médico iba a ir a Cambodia, pero hubo un cambio de planes y por eso estaban en Singapur en estos días. Gracias Señor por eso. En todo seguimos viendo su mano. Llevaría un libro escribir en cuantas cosas, pero Él está.
Hace unos días estaba orando, tratando de no preocuparme por cómo vamos a pagar por todo esto. Esa tarde recibimos un e-mail de alguien diciendo que iba a cubrir todo lo que gastasemos en la primera consulta y los primeros exámenes de diagnóstico. Tuve que llorar un rato, y alegrarme en que tenemos un Dios que sabe todas las cosas, que se preocupa por nosotros y que provee lo que necesitamos cuando lo necesitamos.
Les pedimos que sigan orando por nosotros. Esto recién empieza. Todos los pedidos de ayer siguen en pie, pero les pedimos además que oren por los médicos (El Dr. Wong, la Dra. Tan y el cirugano, el Dr. Shankar) para que el Señor les de sabiduría y habilidad para operar a Alondra. Y oren para que Alondra esté bien en terapia, y que la medicina haga el efecto que tiene que hacer.
Sigan escribiéndonos. Lamentamos no poder constestarles a cada uno, pero necesitamos todo el ánimo que tengan para darnos.

Alondra was admitted to the Gleaneagles Medical Center today. She is in the NICU, and has a drip with some medicine that should bring up the level of oxygen in her blood. This in turn will help the doctors during surgery.
This was probably the hardest thing I had to do to date, leaving her there and seeing her there. I was able to be there quite a lot of time (from 9am to 9 pm), and feed her. She doesn't really like being there, so pray that she will settle well and that her oxygen levels will indeed increase.
We decided to go to this hospital because the best surgeon in this region works there. He is currently doing some charity work in Cambodia, and will operate on Alondra the day he comes back. Surgery is scheduled for this Sunday at 3 pm. In fact, all his team should have been in Cambodia, but for several reasons they could not go, and that is why we were able to find them in town. We thank God for that. We see His hand in so many things, it will take a book to tell them all. But He is with us.
A few days back I was praying and trying not to worry about how we are going to pay for all this. Then later that afternoon we got an e-mail from someone saying that she would cover all the initial consultation and exams fees. I just had to cry for a while, reminding myself that we have a God who knows, cares and provides what we need when we need it.
So, please continue to uphold us in your prayers. This is just the beginning! All prayer requests from yesterday still stand, plus pray that the Lord will give the doctors (Dr. Wong, Dr. Tan and Dr. Shankar, the surgeon) wisdom and skill to operate on Alondra, and that Alondra will sleep well these days in the NICU.
And keep those e-mails coming. Sorry we can't respond to each one of you, but we need all the encouragement you have to give.

Primer Viaje en Avión / First Plane Ride

 

 

Novedades

Hola, saludos desde Singapur. Gracias por orar por el día de hoy. Fue un día largo, pero aquí estamos.
El viaje fue muy bien. Alondra durmió todo el tiempo y llegó perfecta. Del aeropuerto nos fuimos directamente al hospital, donde vimos al cardiólogo. Después de hacerle varios estudios, nos compartió su diganóstico y las opciones que tenemos. Por lo complejo del caso, no es posible hacer una sola operación que solucione todo, por lo que vamos a hacer una operación ahora que es una solución temporal hasta cuando Alondra sea mas grande. Alondra va a necesitar varias operaciones a lo largo de su vida, pero si todo va bien va a poder vivir normalmente. El médico estaba sorprendido de lo bien que está Alondra, considerando todas las cosas que no funcionan bien en su corazón.
Mañana tenemos que ver a otro médico, que le va a dar una medicación hasta que podamos hacer la cirugía. El cirujano que queremos que opere a Alondra está hoy en otro país, así que tentativamente la operación se va a hacer el lunes que viene.
Les pedimos que oren por:
- Que el Señor acomode todos los detalles para que podamos hacer la operación.
- Que Alondra siga bien y responda bien a la medicación.
- Que podamos reponer fuerzas.
- Por Timo, que le están costando todos estos cambios, pero que a la vez lo van a hacer crecer!

En todo vemos la mano de Dios respondiendo a sus oraciones. Él Señor va proveyendo lo que necesitamos en el momento justo. Sigan orando!

Greetings from Singapore! And thanks for praying for us today. It has been a very long day, but here we are.
Our trip here was very good. Alondra did great and arrived well. From the airport we went straight to the hospital, were we saw the cardiologist. He took a long time examining Alondra and then explaining us what the options are. Because Alondra's case is so complex, the best option for her now is to have a surgery that will enable her to have more oxygenated blood in her lungs, until she grows up a bit, maybe till she is 3 or 4, and she can have another type of surgery. Alondra is going to need a series of surgeries during her life, but has good chances of growing up well. The doctor was surprised at how well she is doing, considering the condition of her heart.
We are going to see another doctor tomorrow who is going to give Alondra some medication till she can have surgery. Since the surgeon is outside of the country at the moment, the soonest we can schedule the operation is on Monday.
Please pray:
- That the Lord will make all things come together for the surgery.
- That Alondra will continue to do well, and will be ok with the medication.
- That the Lord will give us strength
- For Timo, as he is struggling with all these chances, and also growing quite a bit.

In all we see God's hand going before us and answering your prayers. He provides what we need, just when we need it. Please keep praying!

¡Alondra ya tiene pasaporte! (y partidas de nacimientos, y demás papeles) y ahora nos estamos preparando para viajar a Singapur. Pensabamos viajar mañana miércoles, pero todavía nos quedan algunas cosas por hacer (cómo armar las valijas) así que sacamos pasajes para volar el jueves a la mañana (miércoles a la noche, hora Argentina). El jueves a la tarde ya tenemos un turno para ver al cardiólogo del hospital, así que les pedimos especial oración por estas dos cosas. También les pedimos que oren por la amiga que nos va a hospedar en Singapur. Nos escribió hoy que no se está sintiendo bien, asi que oramos para que no sea nada serio.

Alguien más que sacó pasaje es mi mamá, que vuela el domingo para encontrarnos en Singapur. Definitivamente una buenísima noticia.

Hoy fue un día difícil, de esperas y hospitales. Es fácil desanimarse, y a la vez sabemos que esto recién empieza. También estamos cansados, ahora que tenemos dos hijos y uno se despierta muchas veces cada noche. Oren para que tengamos fuerza, buen humor y energía para cada cosa.

We love seeing in so many messages and comments that there are many of us rejoicing with Alondra's arrival. Thank you. It's such and encouragement to us to know that you care and that you are praying for us and our little one.

Alondra has a passport! And a birth certificate, and all the necessary paper work. So now we are getting ready to travel to Singapore. We were thinking about flying tomorrow, but we still have a few things that we need to do (like packing!)so we now have tickets to fly on Thursday. Please pray that the baby will do well in the plane. Thursday afternoon we have an appointment with the hospital's cardiologist, so please pray for that too. Our friend who is hosting us in Singapore told us today she is not feeling well, so please pray for her as well that she will feel well soon.

My mom also got her tickets today and she is flying on Sunday and meeting us in Singapore. Great news indeed!

Today has been a difficult day, of waiting rooms and hospitals. It's easy to get discouraged, and we know this is only the beginning. We are also feeling tired as we learn to parent two kids, one who wakes up many times during the night! So pray the Lord will give us his strength, good humor and energy to do each thing that is left to do.

Algunas cosas por las que estámos alabando a Dios (¡Imposible escribirlas todas!)
- ¡¡Alondra está en casa!! Damos gracias por una buena transición y por la alegría de poder empezar a conocernos mutuamente. Porque Alondra está bien y está comiendo bien.

- Hoy recibimos el certificado final de Adopción. Tiene que ser un nuevo record! Solamente llevó 48 horas.

- Damos gracias a Dios que nos proveyó un lugar para quedarnos en Singapur, y un auto, por medio de Grace, nuestra colega, y su familia. Ellos también nos contactaron con doctores y una iglesia allá.

- En cada cosa vemos el amor de Dios por Alondra y por nosotros. Dios es maravilloso.

Algunas cosas por las que orar:
- Por Alondra, para que siga sintiéndose bien y comiendo bien. Por sanidad para su corazón. Para que sigamos creciendo en amor unos por otros. Oren especialmente por Timo, para que pueda adaptarse bien a tantos cambios.

- Por los papeles que necesitamos antes de viajar: la segunda partida de nacimiento y el pasaporte del bebé.

- Por el viaje a Singapur, probablemente el próximo miércoles. El doctor dice que Alondra está bien para viajar, pero es por supuesto siempre es un riesgo. ¡Oren!

- Por los doctores que van a tratar a Alondra en Singapur y por sabiduría para saber qué hacer después.

Here are some things we are Praising the Lord for (impossible to write them all!):
- Alondra is HOME! We had a good transition and are enjoying getting to know each other. She is doing great and eating well.

- Today we received the adoption certificate! This must be the fastest adoption in history. It only took 48 to have the final paperwork.

- The Lord has provided us with a place to stay in Singapore, and also a car to use, thanks to the generosity of our colleague Grace and her family. Wow. They have also contacted us with doctors and a church.

- In all we see God's love and care for Alondra and for us. He is amazing and He loves us!

Things you can be praying about:
- For Alondra to continue to eat and sleep well. Pray the Lord will heal her heart. Pray for all of us as we grow in love for each other, especially for Timo, as many things are different for him.

- For the paperwork that needs to be ready before we can go to Singapore: the birth Certificate and the baby's passport.

- For our trip there! Hopefully on Wednesday. The doctor says the baby is good to fly, but it's a bit scary nevertheless. Please pray.

- For good connection with the doctors in Singapore and wisdom to decide what is best for Alondra.

La salud de Alondra / Alondra's health

Hace unas semanas recibimos un llamado de la agencia de adopción, exactamente nueve meses después de haber llenado nuestra solicitud. Nos contaron de una bebé de dos semanas. Su mamá biológica es muy joven y la situación familiar es muy triste. Además, la bebé tiene varias cardiopatías congénitas y va a necesitar al menos una operación para corregirlas.

Los dos creemos firmemente que el Señor quiere que adoptemos a este bebé, y aunque no fue una decisión fácil de tomar ni sabemos qué va a pasar, sí sabemos es que tenemos un Dios en el que podemos confiar, así que tomamos este paso en fe, con él, sabiendo que él nos va a proveer todo lo que necesitemos para hacer bien lo que él nos pide.

Para los que nos preguntan cuál es la cardiopatía de Alondra, son varios los problemas: Transposición de grandes arterias (TGA), comunicación interventricular (CIV), estenosis pulmonar y situs inverso.

Muchas cosas por las que orar.

A few weeks ago we got a call from the Pro-Life agency who helped us adopt Timo, exactly 9 months after we had submitted our paperwork. They told us about a baby girl who was by then one week old. Her birth mom is very young and the family situation is very sad. Besides that, the baby has a serious heart condition that will require at least one major surgery to correct.

We both strongly believe it is the Lord's will for us to adopt this girl. So, even then it has not been an easy decision and many uncertainties lie ahead of us, we do know that we have a God who can be trusted, so we are walking in faith, with Him, knowing that He will provide everything we need to do what He has asked us to.

For those who want to know what is Alondra's heart problem, there are several: Atrial situs inversus, mirror image dextrocardia, transposition of great arteries, ventricular septal defect and pulmonary stenosis.
